HANK’S – Chandelier Dining At Its Finest!

February 03, 2011 By: John Curtas Category: Food, Reviews

Do you like eating steak?

Then you should be eating steak under a CHANDELIER!

And the best place to eat steak under a chandelier is Hank’s Fine Steaks & Martinis at Green Valley Ranch:

Good bread
Greek salad
So so Caesar
Giant T-bone
Good sauces
Sirloin and tenderloin
'shrooms
Bearnaise
ELV's usual
Molten chocolate cake
Oozing chocolate
Hot Hostess Sonia

This is the place where ELV is supposed to insert a snarky comment about hating all things Green Valley…but darned if we didn’t actually enjoy the whole Hank’s experience. From the perfect Gibson cocktail we began with to the crabby crab cake atop a kick ass mustard sauce to the monster T-bone for two for $99 (that could feed four), to the creamy creamed spinach, to the beautiful wine service, almost everything about the meal was top drawer and most pleasurable.

Sure the meat may not compete with the best in town, and of course the Caesar was too creamy and not lemony enough. And forget for a moment that the mushrooms were under-seasoned and devoid of mushroom flavor. The bread was good, the butter the right temperature, the table appointments are swanky, and the four sauces served (red wine, Bearnaise, blue cheese and peppercorn) showed some real care in the kitchen.

Hank’s is, by a mile the coolest, nicest, best looking and best staffed restaurant for a ten mile radius…so it’s pretty much the go-to joint for Green Valley’s smart set.

Quibbles and GV-hating aside, ELV finds himself strangely, romantically, inexorably drawn to this place.

It’s gotta be the CHANDELIERS!

You ain't eaten steak until you've eaten it under a CHANDELIER!

ELV’s meal for two — that could’ve fed four — was comped.

I’m a Henderson Foodie, not a Green Valley smart set.

I always skip Hanks and go another 1/4 mile to Settebello.

Beaucastel was $65 cause its the coudoulet, not the actual chateauneuf that would run $120 and up. Its a cotes du rhone appelation.

Why is it so difficult for so many restaurants to make a decent Caesar Salad?
