OFF THE STRIP on KLAS TV (CBS) Channel 8’s Dishing and Dining

February 18, 2010 By: John Curtas Category: Food, KLAS TV, Openings, Reviews

This is about as negative as ELV ever gets on the televised airwaves (Channel 8 wants yours truly to recommend restaurants, not bash them). And it’s not that we don’t like OTS, we just wish they were a little less heavy-handed with their recipes.

Fyi: Off The Strip has recently opened another location at 9837 West Tropicana (west of I-215, phone: 702.876.3080) with presumably a similar menu.

ELV—saw you on Channel 8 and have to say that I was sure you learned during your time living in the South that you don’t wear white until Memorial Day…..

I actually asked Tommy G about your visit. (I almost live at Off The Strip.) Turns out he agrees with you on the sauces. Customers often ask for more sauce, particularly on the Thai Shrimp, since they like dipping their bread in it. So, the kitchen has gotten into the habit of saucing a lot. But, it’s gotten out of hand. Same problem with the Rolled New York app. Was Chef Al cooking when you were there? He’s been spending most of his time since the New Year at the sports & slot bar OTS over on Trop. (I think the organization might be having some growing pains.) You should give the original OTS another shot some night when it’s Chef Al cooking for you. His food really is fabulous. I still maintain that it’s impossible for anyone who really likes food to have Chef Al’s food and not like it.
