Macaron Day is tomorrow! It’s the Fifth Annual Macaron Day to be precise.
So if you’re a fan of these tasty little round cakes (crunchy on the outside, soft and gooey within) — and let’s face it who isn’t? — the we suggest heading to Payard Bistro and Patisserie in Caesars Palace, where they grow on trees….and they’ll be handing them out for free.
Who knew ground almonds, egg whites and sugar could be combined into something so ethereal?
Uber-pastry chefs Francois Payard and Pierre Herme that’s who! But if you think you can tell a quality macaron from a fast food one….think again. Even seasoned Parisians can get fooled:
Btw: the words “macaron” and “macaroni” come from the same Italian word “macaccherone” which means “fine paste.”
