Chowin’ Down with the Hungry Hound

March 16, 2010 By: John Curtas Category: Chefs, Food, Interviews, Travel

We’re still recovering from our eating marathon over the weekend with uber-food dude Steve Dolinsky (ABC7’s Hungry Hound in Chicago), so instead of a post of our own this Tuesday, we’ll refer you to this link, http://tinyurl.com/yc85v2h to see his videos of his various stops all over our humble burg in the course of a manical, two day schedule of restaurant hopping.

Those videos, btw, in all of their shaky-cam glory, were shot by the ultra-amateurish ELV, has he endeavored to assist Steverino in some way beyond just sitting at the table and engaging in the witty, erudite, and irony-laden conversations for which he is known. Suffice it to say that Janusz Kaminski we are not.

And lest you doubt our word on how much ground (and calories) we covered, here was our schedule:

Saturday, March 13

1:30 PM Lunch at Origin India

3:30 PM Wine at Hostile Grape at M Resort

4:00 PM Martini Time w/ Chef Tina Martini at M Resort featured prominently on Top Chef (her show is great…and a must see if you’re in this neck of the woods)

5:30 PM Satay + a few other dishes at Lemongrass at CityCenter

6:15 PM Dinner at Sage and meeting w/ Chef Shawn McClain

7:30 PM Cocktails at American Fish in CityCenter

8:30 PM Cocktail + pasta tasting at Sinatra and restaurant tour at Encore

9:30 PM Dinner at Botero at Encore (ELV skipped this)

11:30 PM Nightlife at XS at Encore (Ditto)

Sunday, March 14

10:30 AM Pajama Breakfast at Simon at Palms Place

12:30 PM Fountains Brunch at Jasmine at Bellagio

2:30 PM Nap (desperately needed)

5:00 PM Five courses (from amuse to roasted squab with morels en papillote) at Guy Savoy

6:00 PM Another five courses at L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon at MGM Grand

8:00 PM Six courses at Bar Masa

10:00 PM Tapas + every dessert in the house at Julian Serrano at CityCenter

1:00 AM Collapse into bed in our footie pjs and some Alka-Seltzer

As Steve said: “It was one for the record books.”

And ELV still isn’t hungry.

You had a five course meal at Guy Savoy at Caesars Palace at 5:00 PM, then made it over to MGM Grand by 6:00 PM for 5 more course at L’Atelier? That is quite a feat!
