This just in: Rumors of China MaMa’s demise have been greatly exaggerated.
About every six months or so, ever since it arrived on every foodies’ horizon, ELV gets an inquiry or a gripe or a snarky comment about how “…it’s not as good as it used to be…” or “I hear they lost their chef…” or “…something’s wrong…” or…or…and every friggin’ time we truck over there, either alone or with Slapsie Maxie, and confirm the place is just as smokin’ as it always was.
There has been one change in the kitchen — Head Chef Xingkai Deng has taken a position at Beijing Noodle #9,* but from our recent meal, the rest of the staff is holding the fort down nicely, and not a thing has changed with the food.
Case in point: our above repast didn’t taste any less fresh or vibrant than our first meal here over three years ago. So note to well-meaning, but hysterical food gossips: Quit sounding false alarms because you want to appear to know something ELV doesn’t.
Don’t you know that he is all-knowing and all-seeing in all (Vegas foodie) things?
Do you dare doubt his omniscience in all things edible?
Or, as we like to say around the ELV offices: Kneel before Zod!
…and relax. China MaMa is still our number one off-Strip Chinese, and the next time you get a hankerin’ for some luscious soup dumplings (P23 on the menu), tree fungus, or some pork intestines with chili:
