Memo to Marie: Merci et Non Merci

ELV note: Apparently dear, sweet public relations person Marie, hasn’t heard of the history* between Andre Rochat and yours truly. Despite the fact that Rochat is (apparently) “no stranger to creating world class culinary masterpieces,**” ELV hereby politely declines this invitation, even though by doing so, he risks not having his sophisticated palate “satisfied” by beef endorsed by a professional golfer.

A Night Out With Sin City’s Finest Chefs and Australian Beef

Washington, DC. November 5, 2010 – Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) will host an exclusive dinner developed and prepared by Chef André Rochat for some of “Sin City’s” finest chefs on Tuesday, November 16 at the Alizé Restaurant, perched atop the soaring Las Vegas Palms Hotel & Casino. Held in conjunction with the Nevada Restaurant Association, this culinary feast will offer chefs the opportunity to taste Greg Norman Signature Wagyu and help launch Brunette Downs Grass Fed Beef to the US market. Both products are produced by the Australian Agricultural Company (AAco) and distributed in the US by Broadleaf, a Los Angeles based company.

Stephen Edwards, Foodservice Business Development Manager for MLA, remarks, “We are very excited to present Greg Norman Signature Wagyu beef and Brunette Downs Grass Fed Beef to such a fine caliber of Las Vegas chefs. While Greg Norman Wagyu is a well established and highly regarded product in the US, this will be the first time Brunette Downs Grass Fed Beef –which is underpinned with the Eating Quality Assured (EQA) grading system – has been showcased to US chefs. This is an excellent opportunity to strengthen our relationships with these leading chefs in a fun, laid back setting. We look forward to getting direct feedback regarding the best applications for these products.”

Greg Norman Signature Wagyu beef and Brunette Downs Grass fed beef are natural, antibiotic free and raised without the use of hormones. Brunette Downs is one of the largest ranches in Australia with area over 1 million acres and runs over 72,000 head of cattle.

All dishes served at the dinner will be paired with Greg Norman wines.

About Andre’s Las Vegas: Alizé at the Top of the Palms:

Long before Wolfgang Puck, Emeril Lagasse and Charlie Palmer emerged on the Las Vegas culinary scene, there was Chef André Rochat. As President of the Gastronomy Management Group and Chef/Proprietor of Alizé, Chef Rochat is no stranger to creating world-class culinary masterpieces that have satisfied the most sophisticated palates for decades. Alizé features world-class cuisine, wine and service and has the most dramatic view of the famous Las Vegas Strip. www.andrelv.com/alize/

* A review he didn’t complain about. In fact, after that first review, he wrote KNPR saying ELV was the only critic in town who knew anything about food.

  1. Is it true that Andre said that ELV was the only food writer in town who knew anything about food? Whew! He’s even more of a hack than I realized. And frankly, I didn’t think that was possible.
