Michelin Ratings Revealed

October 20, 2008 By: John Curtas Category: Celebrity Chef Hell, Reviews, Travel, Zines

Here they are sports fans….the 2009 restaurant ratings of Las Vegas swanky eateries from the mother of all guidebooks Le Guide Michelin. ELV will be commenting more on these ratings in the near future, but for now:
Notable changes from last year: Mesa Grill lost its star.
Biggest disappointment: Bartolotta Ristorante di Mare and RM Seafood not gaining one.
Biggest surprise: Andre’s and Alize keeping theirs.
Most satisfying “I told you so:” The too-good-for-this-world DJT being recognized for its short-lived excellence.

The question is, Can DJT accept that star in good concscience, knowing that they know longer stand for what the star means? They should ship it to Chef Isidori!

…..and send the other half to Dave Varley.

How can DJT receive a star ? They were open for, what ? 24 hours ?!?!
    I need to re-visit Andre’s ( downtown . ) as much as i enjoyed it, it didn’t WOW me.
DB Brasserie is decent but sorry, it’s a notch below Bouchon.

Wing Lei ?!?! Come on !!!

Maybe it needs a little more history but i think Restaurant Charlie has 2 star potential.

Just the opinion of a lowly vegas foodie wannabe !

DJT was short lived and outstanding! The star belongs to Joe Isidori & Dave Varley and well deserved.
Does anybody know where Joe Isidori & Dave Varley are these days???

I find it funny that John Curtas thinks Alize and Andre’s are such a surprise when he hasn’t been to either in many years. How does he justify an opinion when he hasn’t dined there?

And I respect what DJT was doing, but the Michelin Guide made an error in awarding them a star. Consistency is the key to their ratings, and one month of service is not consistent. The star should be returned to Michelin.

(I think Joe Isidori went to New York to open a restaurant)

  6. # 6 Andre's Chef Says:
    October 23rd, 2008 at 3:28 pm

Andre’s (downtown) booth was voted best dish at Tuesday night’s StarChefs event- with Andre even at the table plating- instead of on a plane somewhere- as described by Curtas. Funny he (john) has such opposing taste to that of Michelin guide and the majority of attendees at StarChefs event??

Could it be something personal with Andre? Maybe he didnt sample Andre’s downtown dishes at StarChefs and has not dined at Andre’s restaurants (definitely not Alize!) in the past few years…

  7. # 7 Andre's Chef downtown Says:

    Curtas-
Why dont you explain to your readers that the reason for badmouthing Andre’s is that Andre threw you out of Alize and has banned you from his restaurants- no? only after you where upset you where changed for the meal!

Every chefs dream- to toss out a critic only interested in a good asskissing and a free meal. You come into Andre’s, pay for a meal like anyone else-then we can listen with open ears to your concerns

This jackass Curtas is the reason I stopped sponsoring knpr. As soon as they get rid of this moron I will begin to contrubute once again. Until then, they can all go eat their hearts out.

You don’t sponsor public radio because of one 30 second bit once a week? You must be a bitter, small minded person.

Do Not let the small minded hate of a lesser man spoil your success young chef. Enjoy your success and let the negativity fuel your passion even more !!! Hatefull retorts only add fuel to his fire: his bread and butter PERSE. The best way to punish is to ignore him and keep doing the right thing !
