Whenever yours truly gets discouraged at the state of the Las Vegas dining scene—with its surfeit of steakhouses, cynical, celebrity chef food factories, and bad Italian—it gruntles him to know that a seat at L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon is still a tough ticket. If you score a table at one of the 32 seats at the sleek and sexy bar, prepare to be dazzled by food as interesting and intense as anything in America or France.

Holy Publicity Batman! ELV is in the New York Times!

Yes, it’s true: ELV, the man, the myth, the book, the website and even his pesky, irritating co-authors were featured yesterday in the Dining & Wine section of the New York Times.

As the Times pretty much represents the Holy Grail of food publicity America, wethinks this represents the pinnacle of our restaurant writing career, and will, accordingly, become more insufferable, imperious, infuriating, elitist  and condescending than ever.

But we ask our loyal readers not to fret, as we promise to remember all the little people as we bask in the glow of our new-found fame.

And, as there is a certain da Vinci-esque look…

ELV’s staff thought you should know he’s working hard and hard at work these days on the 2nd edition of EATING LAS VEGAS – The 50 Essential Restaurants, along with co-authors Max “Slapsie Maxie” Jacobson and Al “Mad Man” Mancini.

He’s also busy getting ready to launch the next big thing in the Vegas restaurant world (interwebs/publicity-wise anyway)…and should be making an announcement within the next week or so.

In the meantime, it’s back to the salt mines.
