Eat This Now – DE MARCO’S Fennel Sausage

After two bites, we were ready to proclaim Dom De Marco‘s pizza a worthy entrant into the ever-sweetening pizza sweepstakes in our humble burg.

But we’ll leave an extended analysis of their worthy pies to another day.

For now we’ll leave you with a teaser taste of their house-made sausage — sweet, fine-grained and fennel-izedĀ  — it is a masterful rendition of this too-often bastardized Italian classic. And the presentation (as you can see) is far beyond what you see in your everyday pizza joint.

Best of all, a side order of it only costs $10.

Just thought you’d like to know.

  1. In a previous response, I had lamented the loss of Atlanta Bread Company. De Marco’s is the restaurant who moved into its space. De Marco’s is much better, although I sure wish ABC was still around and De Marco’s could have taken the spot in this mall currently occupied by Panda Express instead, but once again, I wasn’t consulted.

I’ve only been there once, but I really like De Marco’s from what I’ve seen. The bar is well and thoughtfully stocked, the menu looks interesting, the staff is well trained and very helpful, and the prices are quite reasonable.

I couldn’t help but order the sausage appetizer ELV has pictured above. It’s as good as it looks. The bean garnish for the sausages is very reminiscent of cassoulet, with sweet fennel bulb and tomatoes. It’s a very successful dish, and it makes me excited about trying the rest of the menu.

I’ll certainly be back, especially as it’s one of the few exciting dining options in my extended neighborhood.
