Only In Portland (Oregon not Maine)…

September 03, 2009 By: John Curtas Category: Rant

Like we said, Portland needs more cowbell…because (among other things) it’s the only place in the whole bleeping country where residents consider it their bleeping legal right to bring their bleeping dogs into a bleeping foodstore.

And they use the Americans with Disabilities Act to get away with it.

Don’t ya just love liberals?

And for the record: ELV loves dogs.

He considers them warm, loving, intelligent and noble creatures that he gets along with about as well as he does with his ex-wives.

It’s dog owners he can’t stand.

Oh come on, Mr. ELV! How can the doggies & doggie owners be any more annoying than those bratty kids (you know the ones) that cause a scene at Sur La Table & Williams-Sonoma? And their parents who scream back at them, “Wait just a minute! Mommy & Daddy will take you to Disney Store when we’re done!” “But MOMMY! I WANT MY TOYS NNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!”

And hold on, I thought it was conservatives/libertarians that didn’t like “big government regulations”. ;-)

So it is safe to say that you will not be eating at Lucky Labrador Brew Pub should you ever visit Cowbell Central again? You would have liked it! All breeds of dogs are welcome there. Those that chase fire trucks and the breed that chases skirts.

As a Portlander who was raised in Las Vegas, I hear you. It’s the damn law! Unlike other states, assistant pets do not have to be registered or licensed in Oregon. All the person has to do is say it’s an assistant animal. It’s ludicrous.

I once spoke with someone at the Health Department and he was nuts about this too. He says the store managers and owners are so scared of being sued, they don’t go up and ask. ARGH!

But I promise you it’s not due to the liberals. The law has been on the books for many, many years and it had nothing to do with us lefties.
