ELV POSTS CORRECTION: We mistakenly reported that Woo in The Palazzo had closed. We discovered last night that reports of its death had been greatly exaggerated. All bets are off, however, on its chances for survival. ELV blames his staff and regrets the error.
Now, back to reality.
The headline in Nation’s Restaurant News in June said: “Vegas refuses to fold as economy craps out.” By late September that same banner read: “Hard luck befalls Las Vegas following U.S. housing bust.”
Because:
1) Krista is so kute and;
2) Because she seated ELV for a kickass meal at NobHill Tavern the other night, and;
3) Because Sven Meade is one of the great, under-the-radar chefs in town, and;
4) Because she is so professional and perky and polite (not to mention hot) that we’d eat at NobHill even it served nothing but surstromming and lutefisk pizza,* and;
5) Because she actually reads ELV, and wants to wish everyone of our loyal readers a Happy New Year!

We want to like Mario Batali’s restaurants (all three of them in the Venetian). We really do. We try to ignore his less-than-appetizing appearance, celebrity status, high prices, and the overwhelming mediocrity of the food….but sometimes, it’s just hard.
