If cooking school students had looked like Nicole Grimes when ELV was considering going to one in the early 80s, he might have rethunk his decision to remain a lawyer-at-law. Back then, most aspiring chefs looked like this rather than the cute-as-a-button Ms. Grimes, so we decided the better course of action was to represent, rather than associate with dudes like this.

BAR + BISTRO is Bringin’ it Downtown

“It’s about friggin’ time,” was all ELV could think to himself as he took bite after bite of terrific tapas at the newly minted, completely overhauled Bar + Bistro downtown. Some of the items cost as little as four bucks (for fantastically-fried sweet potato fries), and everything tastes like there’s someone who cares about it in the kitchen (unlike some other “tapas” bars around town).

Time Worn and Treasured – JOEL ROBUCHON on KNPR

Joël Robuchon’s coming to Vegas in 2005, was, according to then-Gourmet magazine’s then-editor Ruth Reichl “…the single most important event in American gastronomy in the past 50 years.” ELV obviously agreed and devoted two commentaries/reviews (on Sept. 22 and 29, 2005) to his restaurants, that you can listen to by clicking here and here, if you want to hear about the event in the mellifluous, sonorous, sententious and senatorial tones for which he was known.
