Pardon the Interruption

April 24, 2012 By: John Curtas Category: Miscellaneous

Pardon the interruption of our usual food-focused posts, but ELV must, unfortunately, announce that a person (who posts under the name of “swofla”) has been officially banned from this website.

The reason: One anti-union rant too many for our tastes, plus an ongoing refusal to pay attention to our entreaties and responses to their inquiries.

For the record, ELV is neither pro- nor anti- Culinary Local 226. He understands both sides of the dispute, and finds merit in both positions. (For decades, he’s been amused by union shops griping about union employees, while non-union operators complain to him about just the opposite.)

The ads that run in our Google Ads box are determined by some algorithmic formula known only to the computer whizzes at Google — for which we are paid hundreds and hundreds of dollars. Neither ELV nor his staff has any input into the content thereof.

For the record #2: Our ongoing philosophy about comments has, and will continue to be, only defamation* and witless profanity are prohibited.

Political comments from all sides are welcome (especially if they have to do with the politics of what we eat), but if you exhibit incessant political ax grinding, having nothing to do with the topic at hand, expect your presence on this site to hang by a thread.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

* Of anyone but ELV. He’s a big boy and can take it….so all sour grapes and rotten tomatoes tossed in his direction are welcome.

Great; really dislike comments that have nothing to do with the subject at hand.
This site is fun but also has a serious side in that those of us that enjoy the LV restaurant and food/beverage scene should treat the writing and comments thereof with respect for the restaurants, their employees and their customers that read such blogs.

    Mr. Curtas,
Your site often makes me smile from across the country. This is one such instance. Thank you.

I can understand you don’t want a running discussion on the politics of unions but since your blog is having to do with Las Vegas restaurants/hotels it does seem like its not totally off topic. And running ads against a casino that you review food at- does seem like somewhat of a conflict of interest. doesn’t it?

Tpow. I understand the sight is about LV restaurants but The same old $hit gets pretty boring after a while so I have no problem with John taking this stand against unentertaining posts.
Mind you a non union blog would have got it done months ago

what does it take to get 86′d?
did he steal your colonel sanders suit?
did he shave al mancini’s head?
can you describe it using your annoying and all-consuming alliteration?
