Mainland (in The Palazzo) Closes (sigh)

December 06, 2008 By: John Curtas Category: Wake

Eating Las Vegas has confirmed that Mainland in the Palazzo has closed.

Lovers of hackneyed Japanese-Peruvian-Cal-Ital-Argentine-Brazilian mashed up mediocrity — set to a samba beat! (and you know who you are…) — will be heartened to know that Sushi Samba remains open.

Other high-profile, calamitous closings are being calculated (in The Palazzo and elsewhere) as we’re caterwauling. ELV will keep you informed of such things as news develops.

That means I’ll have to go somewhere else to find my durian shakes. Dammit.

I made it to Mainland just in time, and was working on a favorable review. Thanks for your pointer on the toasted marshmallow shake! Oh well…

kjs, I agree with you. I recently went for a second time (to Bar Charlie), and it was even better than the first. I had a reservation for a third meal, but the food gods laughed at me and sent a stomach bug my way. Now I have to wait until spring and hope it’s still open.

word is that it will be virtually impossible for Dos Caminos to make it’s minimum monthly nut (in part because they have never made their minimum monthly goals even before the economy’s plug was pulled), add this place to the short list of possible closings.
