Just when we thought we were burger’d out, along comes this beauty to knock our socks off.
There’s no doubt The Barrymore has got it goin’ on when it comes to its polished, post-modern decor. It’s the right size (the main room seats maybe 50), and the right feel (casual service, moderate prices) for our depression-sunk city. They’ve spent real money on the joint and go out of their way to make customers feel appreciated. Even the lighting in inviting.
The Barrymore has a lot going for it, with its scale being first on the list. It puts you in mind of a human-sized restaurant in a boutique hotel, with a groovy/cool decor, intimate rooms and a bar that invite you to linger rather than feel like you’re being hustled through a casino food/drink factory. It’s the sort of small hotel dining room that Vegas has been in need of for…like…forever.
