I’ve had the opportunity to visit with both Kerry Simon and Max Jacobson recently, so I thought a short post was in order for those of you who are always asking about them and wondering how they’re doing.

The week before last marked a homecoming of great celebration for a missing face in the food community. Max Jacobson is back in town, surely appreciative of the massive support he’s gotten from so many chefs, friends, and fans. This most recent “Chefs to the Max” event took place at Carson Kitchen, the Kerry Simon spot downtown known for turning the tide in the Downtown food scene towards the hip.

Truer words were never spoken about a restaurant. Since Bill and Saipin Chutima took over this space in 1999, the gourmet world has beaten a path to their door. So popular has LOS become with the fiery foods crowd that a table is almost impossible to score on a weekend evening — when you’ll see taxi after taxi dropping parties of four off every five minutes — as tourists make their pilgrimage here to sample our most famous 0ff-the-Strip eatery.
