Michelin Guides 2009 revealed! Sort of….

In keeping with the keen reportorial skills, investigative journalistic integrity and relentless news breaking reputation for which he is known, ELV hereby features the four covers of the 2009 Michelin Guides that will be unveiled on October 22nd at a gala, exclusive, no-hoi-polloi-allowed reception* at the Wynn Hotel. As fascinating as these are(?), it’s what’s inside that we are keenly interested in. If RM Seafood, Bartolotta Ristorante di Mare, Restaurant Charlie and CUT don’t gain at least a star, a minor crime will have been committed. If a couple of notable underperforming places (notable primarily for their underperformance) don’t lose theirs, another one will be.

The Michelin Guide will celebrate the debut of its entire 2009 U.S. collection, including New York, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and San Francisco, with an invite only red-carpet cocktail reception at the Wynn on October 22nd. The event, which will celebrate starred restaurants across all four U.S. dining destinations covered by the Guide, will be hosted by worldwide Director of the Guides Jean-Luc Naret* and attended by the country’s most notable chefs and culinary personalities.**

Restaurant Week and ThreeSquare

FYI: Restaurant Week begins Monday with over 70 local restaurants participating.

Hunger is not something a restaurant critic faces very often. But it’s a very real concern in our community, even though we live in a city that’s had a 19-year run of unprecedented growth and prosperity. Ten and a half percent – that’s over 210,000 people – live below the poverty line here, and over 39% of our students (that’s over 117,000 kids) qualify for and get reduced priced meals in our public schools.
