JAPANEIRO Steaks a Claim

Japaneiro may have the best food in the unlikeliest location in all of Las Vegas. Only Omae can probably top it in both categories.

It occupies the center spot in a forlorn, half-empty strip mall on Warm Springs between Rainbow and Tenaya.

The so-so surroundings give you not a hint that, once you head indoors and take one of the 30 or so seats in the strangely laid out joint, you are about to eat one of the best steaks in Vegas.

FISH N BOWL Gets Its Closeup on Wake Up With the Wagners

As we’ve said before, fish in the ‘burbs keeps gettin’ better and better…and there’s no better example than Fish N Bowl.

However, as good as Howard Choi’s Nouveau-Japo-Hawasian food is….it is definitely NOT available for breakfast (as we state in the video).

ELV regrets the error, and can only attribute it to a surfeit of enthusiasm for this fusion of fun, fastidious, flavorful, frolicsome and funky foodstuffs.

ITSY BITSY Rounds Out Downtown Dining, Pardner

(ELV note: Ever since he returned from Dallas, ELV has had an uncontrollable urge to talk like a Texan. As you will soon find out.)

Itsy Bitsy Ramen and Whiskey has done what something we thought impossible: bring a steady stream of downtown diners to the north side of The Ogden building. Between the somewhat obscure location, and the bad juju of the former occupant, this space was permanently jinxed in our minds, and destined to become a vacant storefront for years to come.

But you’ve got to hand it to the folks behind the redesign (see above) and to chef Ricardo Romo, because between them, they’ve reinvigorated a challenging spot, and rounded out your dining options whenever a downtown pub crawl captures your fancy.
