CAN’T STOP THE MUSIC!
One of the ways a guy knows he’s middle-aged is when he sees a woman walking with her daughter and they both look good to him. And a sure fire way to tell if you’re too old or jaded to worship at a celebrity chef shrine is whether you think basking in some Food Network God’s absentee aura is worth the price of his ruining your meal – with things that have nothing to do with his cooking. Take that chef’s taste in music for example…PLEASE!
According to people who know these things, i.e. The Kelsey Group, 54% of people have replaced the Yellow Pages with the Internet.
According to Digitrends, “52.7% of the online business directory users visit a merchant because of what they saw online, and 87% of the online users depend on the Internet to access local information.”
Even the U.S. Department of Commerce has stated: “Those businesses that use the Internet grew 46% faster than those that didn’t.”
Numbers (and statistics like that) only frighten and confuse ELV. But it doesn’t take an idiot to recognize that the world of eating out and the Internet have become inextricably intertwined. The James Beard Foundation’s Taste America Las Vegas event will come to the High Mojave Desert on October 24-25. ELV considers this a very good, very prestigious thing for our humble burg.
The weekend will feature JBF award winners at one-of-a-kind events including hosted dinners, cooking demonstrations, educational panels and more. ELV will be in attendance at everything and everywhere that weekend, even if it means ELV will have to clone himself.
The events will take place at Bellagio, Caesars Palace, MGM Grand, Palms Place, The Palazzo Resort Hotel Casino, The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino and Wynn Las Vegas Resort & Country Club. ELV is ecstatic that Circus Circus, The Riv, The Trop, The Sahara and Slots O’ Fun were never seriously considered for event venues.
