The Wolfgang Puck Fine Dining Group had its retreat in Vegas last week, bringing 92 chefs and managers to town to discuss the the operation of his restaurants from Tokyo to London.
On short notice, ELV was asked to swing by CUT to judge a chef’s challenge The Great One had put to five teams of his chefs: cook him something he’s never had before.

and you know who…will be at UNLVino tomorrow night signing and selling copies of our book. (If you find yourself asking: “What book?” we suggest you look immediately to your left.) We will also be taking more than a few sips for scholarship and hope to raise a toast with all our friends and lovers….of good food and wine.

Would it be blasphemous to bleat that D.O.C.G. might be as good or better than Scarpetta, its sister restaurant next door? It’s certainly less formal, noisier, and simpler in focus and form. The menu breaks down into short sections — from salumeria to secondi (main) courses — and none of them overwhelm you with anything other than how friggin’ good everything tastes.
