BLUE RIBBON – First Bites

[nggallery id=986]

Blue Ribbon’s challenge is proving to Las Vegas sushi-hounds that it has got the goods on the other estimable sushi joints on the Strip, including Shibuya, Nobu, Yellowtail, and, of course, Bar Masa. Its prices are too high to draw locals from favorite haunts like Hachi and Sen of Japan, and the menu is forbiddingly extensive to all but the most intrepid fish sniffers. But if you’ve got the time and the yen, you will find the Bromberg Brother’s oddball array of Japanese/Chinese/American food (both traditional and with a New York twist) highly compelling.

SLOPPI JO’S – A Food Truck Built For ELV

[nggallery id=983]

ELV loves strippers. He’s always found it amusing to pay for the pleasure of watching  attractive young women pretend to be interested in him. ELV loves New Mexican red chilies even more. Put the two together and you have a food truck we can get behind…or in front of…as the pictures will attest.

The best thing about Sloppi Jo’s is you can enjoy its incendiary red pork Sloppi Jo, breakfast burrito, green chili cheeseburger or fiery green chile chicken drunk or sober…unlike strippers…who we have always felt were best felt when in some highly advanced state of altered consciousness. The second best thing about Sloppi Jo’s is  the authenticity of the ingredients, and the third great thing about it is how much cheaper it is to satisfy your oral cravings this way.

Another plus comes from its weekend location — right in front of Sapphire’s Gentleman’s Club* — giving you an excuse to get both your oral cravings satisfied in one fell swoop. It’s like…the ultimate one stop shopping for female mammary-lovin’-New Mexican-craving-chile-heads!

Is this a great country or what?

Eat This Now – Fried Chicken at BLUE RIBBON

Fried chicken “Blue Ribbon-style” means a nice, not-too-thick coating of matzo and flour, seasoned with cayenne, togarashi peppers and paprika, and fried to a delicate crispness that makes for plenty of juicy meat, and lots of crust to peel off for you crust lovers out there.

One $26 order leaves plenty o’ pickins for two, and you’ll want to order some extra  wasabi/honey dipping sauce right off the bat…since all of you will find it oddly addictive.

As you will the chicken.

It is American/Southern/Jewish/Japanese food at its finest.
