MANTRA MASALA

It would be hard to find a more interesting and passionate Indian cook/restaurateur than Tapan Bose. It would be equally difficult to find more interesting or better prepared Indian food in our humble burg.

Unfortunately, it’s way too easy to find a seat in this place. Which is a shame because a nicer, more comfortable, attractive Indian restaurant you will never find.

BOLLYWOOD GRILL

The Bollywood Grill is the second restaurant we’ve been to this year that used to be a 5 & Diner (Lemongrass Cafe is the other).

A copy of a copy of a copy is the only way to describe those former, cheap, pre-fab, hackneyed diners — the only restaurants we’ve ever been in that had us longing for Denny’s.

Bollywood (thankfully) seems possessed of more kick and vigor than your usual run-of-the-mill Indian restaurant — if one visit is any indication.

SENSI – Indian Food

This meal of duck-filled egg rolls with duck “pastrami,” Indian butter chicken, asparagus tempura, papadam, naan, and biryani rice at Sensi…..…was deeply-spiced, perfectly cooked, and better than most dinners we’ve had in just about any other Indian (dots not feathers) restaurant in town.

The whole shebang came to $100 (including a $20 tip).

Just thought you’d like to know.
