Bianca Freeny Holds the Cards at JOKER’S

It’s the best pulled pork sandwich we’ve had in town in like….forever!

The barbecued baked beans are also a thing of beauty.

The sliders are juicy and good and come on nice, fresh buns.

The bar they all come in used to be a real toilet called Andy Capz on North Decatur.

But don’t hold that against it. ELV certainly doesn’t. In fact, when he was a yute, ELV used to love real-toilet-video-poker-bar-dives.

In fact, he did some of his best work in them.

But the new owners have spent real money giving this video palace a facelift — making it squeaky clean, comfortable and inviting — now more of a nice sports bar than a seedy poker pit.

Most inviting of all, they’ve brought in chef Bianca Freeny — she formerly of Whole Foods on West Charleston — to do the cooking, and she’s doing real, rubbed and smoked brisket and pork that might end up being the last word in neighborhood, video poker bar, good barbecue.

Her chili needs a little work, but with a little fine tuning, it might also turn into something special.

Just as Jokers might get ELV into video poker bars again. This time to eat, not to get lit up like a Christmas tree.

Our lunch pour deux came to $25.
