ELV’s Inviolable Beef Aphorisms

ELV’s Inviolable Beef Aphorism: Eat any steak under $20 at your own risk.

ELV’s Inviolable Beef Aphorism #2: Any steak priced under $20 is probably better ground into hamburger meat.

ELV’s Inviolable Beef Aphorism #3: Those going to a restaurant for a $20 steak would be better off cooking one at home.

  1. I hope this thought process doesn’t extend to:

    Ellis Island
    Hard Rock
    Californian
    Longhorn

All of the above have great steak specials.

  2. ELV responds: ELV is a steak snob. As such, he wouldn’t be caught dead in Ellis Island (or eating a $20 steak) if Al Mancini and Max Jacobson were paying for it.

  3. ELV is right on all counts on this Beef Aphorism issue. If you want cheap beef–aka questionable thin sirloins cut from steers that grazed in the Mojave-then order an Applebee’s steak.

And by the way, most Costco’s sell both prime and choice cuts of thick, juicy, flavorful filets, New Yorks and Ribeyes-and they cost you under $20 per steak. Season, sear in a cast iron skillet, finish in a hot oven. Eat.

  4. John….You are not serving the public.

Never turn your nose up at great LV specials.

    What is a steak snob???

  5. Steaks less than $20.00 (assuming a decent cut and marbling) regardless of where from, are usually sourced from factory farmed animals and I wont support those establishments.
