One Good Drink – AMERICAN FISH’s Singapore Sling

This Singapore Sling was so good, one sip took us back to days of yore, when were but a young buck, full of testosterone, and eager to tackle the challenges of getting freshman college girls drunk so they would have some kind of sex with us.

In fact, it was this drink that eventually led to the commingling of precious bodily fluids between ELV and his Official First Ex-Wife — without which Anthony Robert Curtas (Y.O.B. 1975 – The Official Number One Son Of ELV) would never have been spawned.

So we kinda have a soft spot for this libation. And we thought so much of it we asked Noah Ellis the Beverage Director of the Michael Mina Group to tell us why he put it on the menu and to give us the recipe:

“I added the Singapore Sling to the list because I think it helps demonstrate that classic cocktails aren’t necessarily strong/stirred or very acidic. Additionally, it’s a great cocktail in its own right and the name is recognizable, which is comforting for our guests who aren’t familiar with many of our selections.”

The recipe is as follows:

In a shaker, combine:

1½ oz Plymouth

½ oz Cherry Heering

¼ oz Combier

¼ oz Benedictine

½ oz Lime Juice

½ oz Grenadine

2 oz Pineapple Juice

1 dash Angostura Bitters

Shake well, and strain into a collins glass over ice.

Garnish with an orange & marasca cherry flag.

It cost $13 at American Fish, and is one tasty way to lower one’s inhibitions.

Just thought you’d like to know.
