LOLA’S LOUISIANA KITCHEN – Preview

This may come as a surprise to some of you, but ELV has, on occasion, been accused of being harsh, judgmental and unduly negative, not to mention snarky in the extreme.

But regardless of our views on certain overly ambitious Turkish restaurants, the last thing we want is to torpedo a small business while it’s getting its feet on the ground.

Keep in mind, no one loves Louisiana cookin’ (Cajun, Creole, French or a simple muffaletta) more than ELV (and we have more than a passing familiarity with this food), and no one, no one on God’s green earth wants a restaurant to succeed in this Holsum Loft space (downtown) more than yours truly.

So all we’ll tell you at this point is this: We’ve eaten one lunch at Lola’s, plan on returning for dinner soon, and liked the seasonings on the catfish and grits. The bread pudding is also a nice way to clog your arteries, and disappeared quickly.

Other than that, we’ll let the snaps speak for themselves, and promise a full review within the month.

Our lunch for three came to about $60 (including tip), although ELV isn’t quite sure because our staff: picked up the tab.

  1. tell my ‘nephew’ to shave…will ya…that’s no way for a rocket scientist to look, unless he has crazy wild white hair and a pocket protector..LOL

  2. love the pictures of your “meals” and of course always good to see “your staff” . Running a restaurant is ridiculously tough—manufacturing and retail, all in one! Thanks for giving restaurants a second look.
