I just ate there on Tuesday and I have to say that i had a wonderful experience there. I don't know how knowledgeable you are about being a food critic (as overrated critics are these days) but you obviously don't know what it is and how hard it is to be a "fusion" restaurant. There are no rules and there are no limits. They do great work with their food and I enjoyed just going there and eating great food. (Because there is no criticism needed when you just want to go and have a meal). No offense to your taste buds. Good luck with your future en devours. In the mean time I will go and be my own critic.

FYI: I ate there three times (twice at my own expense - once with the SS PR person)

The reason I go back multiple times is because: 1) I put my $$$ where my mouth is...and; 2) I don't want to be unduly influenced by any freebies (that are inevitable at this stage of the game -- i.e. 14 years of writing about Vegas restaurants)

I as well have eaten at Sushi Samba and loved every last detail of my dining experience. if you don't feel like going on a culinary adventure maybe you should stick with Hamada. Maybe you are just mad they didn't comp your meal because you are a food critic. I would encourage anyone who has a love for great food with impecable service and a truely enveloping atmosphere to try Sushi Samba. good luck and good eating.

I've been to all the locations with the exception of Tel Aviv and I thought the food at this location was amazing. The robata grill gives the food great flavor and the rolls are not your typical Crunchy-Spicy Boring Tuna rolls. The music was fun and upbeat. The service was great. The design was beautiful. The Samba Cocktails, especially the one with acai, was delicious. Not to mention this restaurant gives the Palazzo some much needed energy. I'm a fan and disagree about the taquitos. I can't get enough. Yum.

Hi, John.

My husband (also a John) and I have been so thrilled to be reading your blog online this summer! You've been our go-to source for so many dinners. For the last 6 years since our daughter Emily went to college, we've been fortunate enough to take a monthly excursion up to Vegas for culinary adventures. While we usually base our reservations on your latest reviews- we beat you to the punch with sushi samba. And I have to tell you John - we had a really wonderful dinner there. The vibe was fresh and young (which we usually have trouble fitting into these days) and the food really hit the spot. We've been to Brazil several times together and the flavors in the dishes really brought back the memories. We're huge sushi fans and i agree that it's not sushi in the 'purist' sense - but we thought the dishes were smart and quite remarkable.

Hi,John
I respect all your review and I think you have a great knowledge for food, but I don't think that is as bad as you said. I ate there last week, it was great and it add a different twist to japanese cuisine.
arigato!
